Condolences to the Family of Michael A. Lotano

Michael A. Lotano of Glenville, NY passed away at the age of 85 on Tuesday, February 6 at home.

Mike was born December 30, 1938 in Schenectady, NY–the only child of the late Michael Lotano and Helen Linscott Lotano. He graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1956, followed by Albany College of Pharmacy in 1960. His career started at Rock Garden Pharmacy in Schenectady. Over the years Mike worked at many independent pharmacies and regional chains. He owned Albert’s Drugs in Colonie, NY from 1978 to 1988.

In 1960, He married his high school sweetheart Jacquelyn Mangino. They welcomed their first child in 1961. Five more children followed, necessitating moves to Niskayuna, NY, and then Glenville, where he settled in 1971.

Mike is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jacquelyn; children Leslie Lotano-Saba, Pamela Cerrone, Michael Lotano Jr. (Kelly Stankes), Nicholas Lotano (Maria), Hope Corraro, and Perry Lotano (Alyssa); 10 grandchildren and great-grand daughter.

Mike treasured his family and friends, most notably harness horse trainer John Mongeon, lifelong friends and pharmacists Mike Riggi and Tom D’Annunzio; his cousins Dr. Remo Lotano, Jimmy Lotano, the late Carmine and Alfred Lotano, and Dr. Ivan Linscott, with whom he happily reconnected after 60 years. His newest friend, Jane Evans Russell, provided loving care and kept him entertained. He was especially fond of his niece Angela Mangino Lee and husband John.

His passion, other than his family, was standardbred horses and harness racing. He owned, trained, and/or raced over 75 horses. Roy Bean Hanover, Mountain East Wind, Lifeinthefastlane, Signal Hill Tiger, and Hidden Touch were among his favorites.

 

Mike’s family invites you to attend calling hours Sunday, February 11, 12 noon to 2 pm at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 12 at 1 pm at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd., Glenville, followed by entombment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, 27 Glenridge Rd., Glenville, NY.

 

In honor of Mike’s 17-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease, his family requests contributions made in his name to the Michael J.
