Condolences to the Family of John Duggan

John “JD” Duggan, 72, of Kingsbury, passed away at his home, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 19, 1952, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Robert and Beverly (Kingsley) Duggan.

JD was a graduate of Glens Falls High School. He retired from Mount McGreggor Correctional Facility as a Corrections Officer.  JD’s passion in life was horses and harness racing.  He was a longtime fixture at the Saratoga Harness Track.  Family was also important to him, especially when he could, spending time with his grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Duggan.


He is survived by his two daughters, Amy-Jo Sokal (Todd) and April Duggan; his 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his siblings and his longtime partner, Shirley Brown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.


Calling hours will be on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10 to noon, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. 

A Celebration of JD’s life will follow the calling hours at the American Legion Post 574, 72 Pearl Street in Hudson Falls.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Black Hills Wild Horse Rescue, 12165 Highland Rd, Hot Springs, SD 57747 or any other horse rescue of your choice.
