Condolences to the family of Harold Goodsell

Saratoga Springs, NY- Harold A. Goodsell, born on May 25, 1935 passed away on August 10, 2025 after a brief illness.  Harold was a native of Fort Ann NY.

He married Geraldine B. Ayers from Voorheesville, NY July 13, 1969.  They worked side by side in the harness horse racing industry for many years until retiring in 2015.


Harold was a proud and active member of the Masonic fraternity.  A Past Master of Rising Sun Lodge #103, he was honored with both a 50 Year Membership and Dedicated Service Award Aprons. He was also a member of Washington Commandery, Joseph Warren Cryptic Council #37, Warren Chapter #23 Royal Arch Masons, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #131, Oriental Shriners Troy NY, Scottish Rite NMJ Valley of Albany and ROJ Troy Court #122.

Beyond his many accomplishments Harold will be remembered for his quiet strength and generosity.  His legacy will live on in the love of his family, the bonds of his friendships and the many lives he has touched.  

Harold is survived by his daughter, Beverly Young (Tom), two granddaughters, Rebecca Ryder (Jim) and Melissa Haynes (Tom), three great granddaughters, Lillian Ryder, Morgan Ryder and Reese Haynes.

He is predeceased by his wife Geraldine, his parents, sisters and brothers.


At Harold’s request, there will be no services.  Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
