Condolences to the Family of Eileen Coppola

Eileen Coppola passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at home with her loved ones by her side. Born August 30, 1954, in Vernon, NY, Eileen was the daughter of the late John and Claire (Scanlon) Carney. Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Frank Coppola; brother, Larry Carney (Debbie); sister, Claire Curtin (Jack); mother-in-law, Marion Coppola; brothers-in-law, James Coppola (J’Lyn) and Michael Coppola (Laurie); several nieces, nephews and many close friends. Eileen met Frank while working in her hometown as a switchboard operator at Vernon Downs, where she also handled trophy presentations. She joined Frank, working with him at the stable for Saratoga Harness Racing, before becoming a member of the retail staff at The Shoppe on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. She last worked at Ace Hardware in Milton, where she became very close with her colleagues, as well as members of the community. Very much a “people person,” Eileen showered love on everyone she met. That love and much laughter was largely reciprocated. Eileen also became fast friends with members of the animal kingdom, whether furry, feathered or feline, though hummingbirds, horses, ponies and dogs held a special place in her heart. Eileen is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Lorraine “Lori” (Coppola) Rubaszek and brother-in-law, Stephan “Steve” Rubaszek.

Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Route 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter, 6010 County Farm Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 or The Community Hospice Foundation, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
